Artisans throughout the world have show ingenuity, creativity, practicality and humour in the recycling of materials available in their communities. One of the greatest challenges for artisans is the cost of materials with which to make their work.

Recycling is not only good for the environment but is also good for the artisans who show continued creativity in producing beautiful products from the most surprising of materials such as phone wire, factory offcuts,old clothing , garbage bags, fishing nets, motor bike seats and rubber thongs.

Large Beach Arpillera

These vibrant textiles are hand made by Peruvian women. Arpillera depict scenes from daily life . They have a wonderful 3 dimensional nature created through the application of different motifs including people, animals , fruit and vegetables set in the landscape. There is so much to look at.

Children love these colourful hangings and they are also fun in a family room or kitchen. The beach design is particularly suited to houses by the beach.

Each panel will vary slightly as each piece is handmade
